SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A central New York man who killed his toddler daughter, burned her body and dumped her remains in a waterway is being sentenced.

Twenty-five-year-old Ryan Lawrence of Syracuse is expected to be sentenced to 25 years to life Wednesday morning in Onondaga County Court.

He pleaded guilty in September to murdering 21-month-old Maddox Lawrence last February. Authorities say he used a wooden baseball bat to kill his daughter, then burned her body in the woods outside Syracuse before tying her remains to a cinder block and dumping her remains in a Syracuse creek.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Maddox in February after Lawrence disappeared with her. Two days later, Lawrence was arrested after being spotted in a shop outside Syracuse. His daughter's remains were found the next day in an inlet off the end of Onondaga Lake.
