The start of the work week could mean getting up a bit earlier on Monday to clear snow before the morning commute. And, the potential for very high wind gusts as the storm approaches the area could mean downed tree and power lines today.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Madison and Oneida Counties through Monday evening, with lake effect snow accumulations between 3-7 inches possible. Localized amounts could total 10 inches in some area, the NWS says.

That Winter Storm Watch does not include Herkimer County, but snow totals of 2-5 inches are possible in Herkimer County through Monday evening, according to the NWS.

Additionally, a wind advisory is in place in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties through Sunday evening, warning of 20-30 mph winds with gusts approaching 50 mph.
