Senator James Seward is calling on assembly Democrats to join with Republicans in the senate in enacting a final budget that will address the GAP Elimination Adjustment.

Seward says since its inception in 2010, the GEA has cost school districts around the state billions of dollars in reduced aid.

He says a resolution approved by senate Republicans this year includes up to $686 million in funding that could be used for the elimination of the GEA.

A new state budget is due April 1st.
