Utica, NY (WIBX) - A multi-agency fugitive task force tracked down and arrested a convicted sex offender living in Utica. Officials say, 39-year-old Stacey S. Snell was a fugitive from justice in Florida and Washington states. Florida officials wanted Snell for failure to update his sex offender registry, and Washington wanted him for failure to register as a felony sex offender. He was apprehended without incident while walking on Eagle Street in Utica.

Officials say Snell is required to register as a sex offender following a 1996 conviction for rape in Massachusetts. According to the report, Snell could face additional charges for violation of the federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Participating police agencies include, US Marshals Service, Utica Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Oneida County Probation Department, NY State Police, and NY State Division of Parole.
