A high school student in New York's Saratoga County is facing jail time for allegedly injecting another student with heroin.

Seventeen year-old Daniel Lewis, a student at Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park was arrested and is being held at the Saratoga County Jail.

In addition to drug and needle possession, the charges he is facing include illegally injecting a narcotic and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say they went to the high school, known locally as "Shen," on Wednesday, December 11th after receiving reports of a 15-year old child under the influence of heroin.

According to troopers their investigation revealed that Lewis had injected the student with heroin while at the school, and had both heroin and needles on him while there.

According to a written release posted by New York State Police, Lewis was arraigned by Justice Robert Rybak in the Town of Clifton Park Court and sent to jail in lieu of bail, set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.  Lewis is scheduled to answer charges in court on December 19, 2013.
