With the warmer weather here, Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol is reminding motorists to watch out for slow moving vehicles.

He's also reminding farmers to check their signage and lighting when operating equipment on public roads to avoid accidents.

Maciol says the Slow Moving Vehicle emblem is one safety tool farmers can use.

The emblem signifies to other drivers that the farm vehicle is traveling at a speed of 25 miles an hour or less and may be making unexpected stops or turns.

Maciol says a motorist going 55 miles an hour on the highway approaching farm equipment that's traveling at 15 miles an hour can collide with the equipment in just seconds from the time they first see it.
