SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Law enforcement officials plan to talk about a gruesome slaying in central New York that occurred twenty years ago.

Onondaga County Sheriff Eugene Conway plans an "informational" news conference Wednesday about the ongoing investigation into the death of 42-year-old Carol Ryan.

Ryan was found naked and beaten on Sept. 1, 1996 along a country highway in Jamesville, southeast of Syracuse. She died after five hours of surgery.

Detectives and Ryan's family members plan to speak to the media about the cold case.
