FAIRMOUNT, N.Y. (AP) — The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says one person has died in an early morning fire in an upstate New York hamlet.

Officials say the fire broke out around 4 a.m. Monday at a town house in Fairmount, just west of Syracuse.

Syracuse.com reports another person was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren't considered life-threatening.

County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber says the fire appears to have started in a single town house, but the cause is still under investigation.
