A movie theater shooting took place Wednesday (August 5, 2015) when someone fired shots at a Nashville cinema during a screening of Mad Max: Fury Road.

According to WSMV, "the suspect entered the theater armed with a gun and a hatchet. The shooting began in the projection room during a showing of Mad Max: Fury Road.

The gunman exchanged fire with a police officer before a SWAT Team member killed the suspect.

It's unclear how many injuries were sustained and authorities say one  person may have hurt by the hatchet the gunman was carrying.

The gunman also had two backpacks with him and officials are looking through them. Business establishments and a school in the area were placed on lockdown.

The shooting comes about two weeks after a gunman opened fire in a Louisiana movie theater during a screening of the comedy Trainwreck. And less than a month ago, James Holmes was found guilty on multiple counts of murder for a mass shooting in a theater showing The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.
