A Westmoreland man is facing charges after allegedly shooting his son.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says 66-year old Jeffery Everetts shot his son, 30-year old Robert Everetts, in the torso early this morning at a home on Lowell Road.

Deputies say Robert Everetts fled the residence and called for a ride to his home in Whitesboro.

He was then taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jeffery Everetts was arrested and charged with assault.  He's being held in the Oneida County jail on $25,000 bail.

A search warrant was executed at Jeffery Everetts home on Lowell Road.  Deputies say several handguns and longuns were seized, including the handgun used in the alleged shooting.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
