The U.S. Capitol remains on lockdown after reports of shots fired.  

The Congressional Sergeant-At-Arms says a Capitol police officer has been shot and a gunman is in custody.  The officer's wound is not serious.

The shooting reportedly took place at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center.  An ambulance was seen leaving the area.

Staffers have been told to shelter in place.

The White House was locked down briefly.
