Should The Pope Tweet?

Marcy, NY (WIBX) – The Vatican announced that Pope Benedict XVI would soon have an official Twitter account.

Do you think it is a good idea?  We polled WIBX listeners and, as of this writing, a full sixty percent agree that the Pope should have his own Twitter account, despite the fact that many realize that the 85-year old probably will have someone else do his tweeting for him.

Some of the comments we received were: He can tweet “…anything he wants, he’s the Pope.”  From our Facebook page: “Since there is a character limit, he can’t really post a prayer.  So, I think it would be nice if he posted a Bible verse for people to look up (and) think about for the day.  I’m not as into Twitter as Facebook, but I’ll follow him.”
