In the midst of the United States' negotiations with Iran on the subject of nuclear weapons, forty-seven United States senators sent a letter to Tehran criticizing the process and President Barack Obama.

Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has since responded, using the letter to criticize the American political system.

As of this posting a petition has been signed by more than 165,000 people calling for the senators who sent the letter to be tried on charges of treason.  Since the petition has been signed by more than 100,000 citizens it will be addressed by the Obama administration.
