Washington, DC (WIBX) - Republican Missouri Representative Todd Akin is apologizing for comments he made over the weekend but some say it is too late.

Defending his pro-life stance the candidate for U.S. Senate said that pregnancies resulting from rape are "rare," and that if a rape is "legitimate," a woman's body has "ways to shut that whole thing down."  The comments were made during a television interview and Akin has taken to the airwaves to recant his statements, saying that they were completely wrong.
