A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday for the new NeuroCare Program at Sitrin Healthcare.
The 32-bed unit is the first and only long-term care program in upstate New York for people with Huntington's Disease and ALS. Sitrin renovated a former skilled nursing unit on the second-floor of its health care center at a cost of $1.5 million.
There are currently 26 individuals on the program's waiting list.
The NeuroCare Program, which is slated to begin admitting residents on June 1st, will create 40 new full-time jobs.
