Canastota Police are looking for any information leading to the return of six championship belts that were stolen from The International Boxing Hall of Fame early on Thursday morning. The belts once belonged to Carmen Basilio and Tony Zale.

According to Chief Jim Zophy of the Canastota Police Dept. via Syracuse.com,

the belts carry some sentimental value and will likely be sold on the black market if investigators can't find them in time. It's the first theft in the 25-year history of the hall of fame, he said.

That would mean these "priceless" historical artifacts would be lost forever. It is not known if there was one thief or thieves. If you have any information on the whereabouts of these belts contact Canastota Police at (315) 697-2240.
