BOWLING GREEN, Va. (AP) — Virginia authorities say six people are dead after a van carrying 16 people hit another car and overturned multiple times.

Virginia State Police said in a statement that the crash happened early Saturday on Interstate 95 in Caroline County. State Police say a Dodge van ran off the road and then came back and struck a Toyota Camry. State Police say the van overturned several times and six passengers were ejected from the van.

State Police say the six people thrown from the van — four males, one female and a juvenile — died at the scene. The driver and nine other passengers were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Officials say the names of the deceased will be released once relatives are notified. The Camry's driver was uninjured.
