The reeling New York Giants were bitten on Sunday on by an apparently ageless veteran who led the division rival Washington Redskins to a 20-13 win at MetLife Stadium, dropping Pat Shurmur and 'Bad Blue' to 1-7.

The now 33-year-old Adrian Peterson scored Washington's two touchdowns on the day - a seven yard reception in the opening quarter and a 64-yard scamper in the fourth - and rushed for 149.

Washington's defense clamped down on Eli Manning and the Giants' offense, racking up seven sacks of Manning while holding rookie RB Saquon Barkley to 38-yards rushing on 13 attempts.

Manning finished 30-of-47 for 316 yards, a meaningless touchdown to Evan Engram in the final seconds and two picks. Odell Beckham Jr. caught eight balls for 136.

New York's defense - which lost two starters in trades this week -  kept the game close throughout , holding Alex Smith to 181 yards and a score. The 'Skins lead the NFC East at 5-2 and will host the Falcons next Sunday. The Giants visit San Francisco after a bye next week.
