It may takes a village to raise a child but it also takes a village to come together when children need help. Over 100 kids were on their way to New York City yesterday when their bus crashed on the snow covered roads. It happened Monday on Interstate 81.

10 students from Mendon Senior High School in Monroe County and two adults were taken to area hospitals and thirty children were evaluated for minor injuries. The rest were taken to the civic center in the village of Marathon where teachers, cafeteria workers and administrators from the Marathon school district provided lunch.

The kindness of others was shared on the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Cops Facebook page. "Small town's are capable of amazing things when emergencies occur."

John Tillotson, Chief of the MAVAC says he's overwhelmed with the media attention their act of kindness has received. "This is the kind of community caring and support that is so typical of Marathon and many other small towns. Maybe we just take for granted that this is how human beings are supposed to treat each other, but it certainly makes me appreciate living in this community even more. In any case, it's nice to see so much positive energy being shared on social media after all the negativity our nation has been experiencing lately"
