The National Weather Service in Binghamton is advising residents that the milder temperatures can carry some consequences.

Officials say the more seasonable temperatures will contribute to a significant amount of snow melt runoff into area rivers and streams through March 30.

Melting snow, combined with up to three-quarters of an inch of rain, will cause considerable rises in levels on the upper portion of the Susquehanna River basin. Forecasts of three-quarter bankfull, to near flood stage, are expected Friday into Saturday. If rainfall and runoff exceeds current expectations, low lying areas along the Tioughnioga, Chenango, and portions of the Susquehanna Rivers from Bainbridge to Vestal, could experience minor flooding of agricultural lands nearest the river channel.

At last report, new precipitation from March 29 through the 30th was expected to amount to possibly a half inch.

Residents are advised to continue to monitor the potential for minor flooding over the next few days.
