Sources Say Perry Dropping Out, Backing Gingrich

Utica, NY (WIBX) – According to multiple media sources, Texas Governor Rick Perry is ending his presidential bid. The news comes two days before the South Carolina primary. According to reports, Perry will make the official announcement at a press conference this morning.

Also, Politico, is reporting that Perry will back former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Perry has scheduled an announcement at 11:oo a.m. EST in Charleston, South Carolina. Perry has lagged in the polls and never gained traction after some poor debate performances. Entering the race, Perry rode a high tide of money and expectations but fared poorly in the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary.
