There are very few details available currently concerning a stabbing that occurred early this morning at Herkimer College.

Authorities have confirmed that one person was stabbed and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  There's no word on the extent of the injury and whether someone has been arrested for the alleged stabbing.

College officials are expected to more information on the incident later today.

UPDATED 3:44 p.m - A Herkimer College student is facing charges after an early morning stabbing at the Reservoir Run Apartment Complex.

According to campus security, 19-year old Inesha Briggs of Herkimer was arrested after allegedly stabbing another student with a steak knife after a verbal argument.

The student, who was stabbed in the shoulder, was treated at a local hospital and released.

Briggs was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

She was suspended from the college pending a judicial hearing.

The incident remains under investigation by the Herkimer College Campus Safety department.

College officials call the stabbing an isolated incident.
