A program that will designate tax-free zones around SUNY campuses like SUNY IT in Marcy has been passed by the State Assembly.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi sponsored the legislation.

Brindisi says START-UP NY has the potential to unleash the Mohawk Valley economy

He says with the great assets SUNY IT brings to the table, private-public partnerships are a no-brainer, and now with no taxes as an incentive, new businesses will be lining up to create jobs here.

Under the program, eligible businesses would have all state taxes waived for ten years.
