Leaders of the New York State American Legion gathered at Utica Post 229 today to present awards to Sitrin's Military Rehab program for their work with wounded veterans and a Camden man for creating a memorial park dedicated to veterans.

State Commander Frank Peters said this type of grass-roots work is very important to both the Legion and community because they represent the face of the community.

At a dinner last night, Utica Post 229 also presented an award to the West Utica Senior Center for their commitment to serving veterans.
