Marcy, NY (WIBX) - The Route 291 Bridge over Nine Mile Creek in Marcy needs replacing.

Jim Piccola with Region Two of the New York State Department of Transportation says inspectors took a look at the bridge and did not like what they saw.

Two lanes will turn into one alternating lane and it will remain that way until the bridge is replaced.

Beginning today drivers will see signs letting them know about new traffic signals. Next week those traffic signals will be up and running.

The change is in effect indefinitely, until the state can come up with funding to completely replace the bridge. In the meantime, Piccola says, the bridge is safe.
