State DOT Travel Advisory

Exercise caution.

That's the message from the New York State Department of Transportation to motorists dealing with icy and slippery roads.

They're urging drivers to plan their trips in advance, drive below posted speed limits where weather conditions warrant it and to take ample time to get where they need to go.

The DOT has more than 400 trucks out plowing and salting roadways statewide.

A number of local schools and organizations are canceling activities today.
