New York State's jobless rate is now at its lowest level since 2008.

That's according to figures released today by the State Department of Labor.

The jobless rate has fallen from 7% to 6.8% after the state economy added 5,400 private sector jobs in January 2014.

That raised the private sector job count in New York to an all time high of 7,529,200.

Since 2011 the State economy has added more than 426,000 private sector jobs and has seen private sector growth in 32 of the past 37 months.
