State Officials Propose Thruway Toll Hike For Truckers

Albany, NY (WIBX) – If you drive a big rig, you may be paying more to drive on the New York State Thuway, a lot more.
The State Thruway Authority Board has voted to authorize a 45% toll increase for commercial vehicles with three or more axles.
That means if the toll hike is approved, a tractor-trailer would pay $127 to drive form Buffalo to New York City, up from the current $88.
Officials with the Thruway Authority say the propsed hike is in response to the damages inflicetd on the road by massive tractor-trailers.
Tolls were last raised on the Thruway between 2008 and 2010, when they increased 10%.
