State Police issued more than 15,000 tickets during the "Operation Hang Up" traffic enforcement campaign held April 6th through the 10th.

Over 2,000 tickets were for distracted driving.

Troopers wrote nearly 5,000 tickets for speeding, almost 600 for seat belt violations and made 206 DWI arrests.

"Distracted driving too often leads to avoidable tragedies, which is why this administration has zero tolerance for this illegal and dangerous behavior," Governor Andrew Cuomo said. "I commend State Police and local law enforcement for their continued vigilance against reckless driving and tireless work to keep our roadways and highways across New York safe."

The campaign was funded by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee.
