Police say a man knocked on the door of a home on Mapleton Drive, identified himself to the elderly resident as working for the town and said he needed to check the water pressure for the sewer system.

They say when the homeowner let him in, the man asked to go downstairs to the washing machine and requested the homeowner run a wash cycle.

Troopers say that's when a second man entered the home and removed property from an upstairs bedroom.
