State Senate Bill Stiffens Penalties On Credit Union Robberies
Albany, NY (WIBX) - The state Senate has passed a bill co-sponsored by Senator Joe Griffo that stiffens penalties for credit union robberies.
The legislation would make robbing a credit union a Class C Felony, punishable by 5 to 15 years in prison.
Under exisiting law, the robbery of a credit union could be classified as low as a Class D Felony, depending on the amount of money stolen.
The bill has been sent to the Assembly.
