Albany, NY (WIBX) -Those annoying political and robocalls that interrupt your day may coming to an end.

The state Senate has approved a bill requiring out-of-state telemarketers to register with the Department of State.

The law bans robocalls unless the person being called has given permission.

It also stiffens penalties for those who don't pay attention to New York's "Do Not Call" registry.

The governor is expected to sign the bill that had previously been passed  by the Assembly.
