State to Repave 12 Miles of Thruway in Western New York

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York is repaving 12 miles of the Thruway in the far western corner of the state.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the start of the $11.7 million project on Monday. It involves repaving two lanes of the Thruway, in both directions, between exits 58 and 59 between Silver Creek and Irving, south of Buffalo. In total 48 miles of pavement will be replaced.

The project also includes changes to the Thruway slope to improve safety and the addition of new guiderails and drainage culverts.

Overnight ramp closures will occur at exit 58 while the work continues. The state hopes to wrap up the project this month.
