State Troopers Investigate Thruway Fatal Accident [UPDATE]

State Police are investigating a fatal accident that took place this morning on the Thruway.

It happened at around 8:15 in the eastbound lane of I-90 between Exit 30 in Herkimer and Exit 29A in Little Falls in the Town of Danube.

The State Thruway Authority says the victim was Thruway Maintenance Worker Ronald Deming, 58, of Little Falls who worked in the Authority's Syracuse Division.

They say Deming was struck by a vehicle while assisting in the recovery of a passenger car along the shoulder of the roadway. Deming worked for the Thruway Authority for more than two decades.

Acting Executive Director Bill Finch said " Ron’s death deeply touches us all.  The entire Thruway family mourns his loss and will keep his wife Sally and his daughters Leah and Nicole in our thoughts and prayers during this tremendously difficult time
