SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have identified the operator of a boat that hit a man and his 8-year-old daughter on Skaneateles Lake earlier this month, causing the girl to lose an arm and a leg.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that 33-year-old Jamie Wheeler of Homer was driving the 17-foot Bayliner boat on July 6 when its propeller struck her husband, 32-year-old Christopher Driscoll, and her stepdaughter, Kaelynne Driscoll.

Investigators say they were being towed on an inner tube when the tube hit a wake and the two were thrown into the water. Deputies say the boat's propeller hit the two as the boat circled back around.

No charges have been filed. The incident is still under investigation.
