Stewart's is officially coming to Utica.

At a planning board meeting last night, Stewart's was unanimously approved to build on the corner of State and Court Streets in West Utica.

The proposed location on Culver Ave in East Utica was also approved by the board pending a further review of the impact of increased traffic in the area.

Stewart's Project Manager Chuck Marshall says he was a bit frustrated that the original traffic study submitted to the Common Council wasn't satisfactory, but they will submit a new one that he thinks will ease any concerns.

He said despite that, they're excited to come to the Utica Market.

Marshall said it takes about two and a half months to build a Stewart's, and residents in West Utica could begin to see activity in the coming weeks.
