A number of concerns have been raised over the proposed re-zoning of residential property to commercial property on Culver Ave.

The initial plan was to re-zone three properties to make them a commercial zone to allow a Stewart's convenience store to be built in East Utica.

Commissioner of Urban and Economic Development Brian Thomas says because of the concerns raised by both residents and members of the Common Council, he has suggested that the issue be sent back to the planning board for further consideration.

Thomas says the first action will be to change the three properties to commercial zones with a second action that will overlay the zoning on all the properties as previously proposed.

After the plans are re-approved by the zoning board, it will return to the council for a final vote.
