A Stockbridge woman has been arrested for welfare fraud.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says 60-year old Marguerite Howlett had been receiving public assistance through the Department of Social Sevices for the past three years.

They say she failed to disclose that she was living with seven family members, two of whom were employed and earning income.

As a result, Howlett was overpaid nearly $25,000 in benefits.
