Utica Police are asking the public to refrain from any unnecessary travel today.

Police says DPW crews are trying to get the roadways clear.

They say if you have a vehicle that is stranded on a road in the city, please make every attempt to get to your vehicle and try to get it free.

If you find that your vehicle has been towed, you can call the UPD at 315-223-3464.

Meanwhile, Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri says they've set up a command post at City Hall made up of personnel from the City’s Police, Fire and DPW departments.

Palmieri say the Utica Police Department is coordinating with tow truck companies to have cars removed as soon as possible to enable DPW plows to clear City roads
