Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - What makes synthetic drugs so appealing to the average buyer, and what is being done to alter these drugs to skirt the ever-changing laws?

Herkimer County Community College will answer those questions on November 1st, when it welcomes Michael Nerney, the former director of the Training Institute of Narcotic and Drug Research.

Nerney's presentation, "Barely Legal: Dangerous Substances Under the Regulatory Radar," will address the types of synthetic drugs, what makes them attractive and how to curb their use.

The free presentation is sponsored by the college's Counseling Center and the Herkimer County Prevention Council, and will be held in HCCC's Sarkus-Busch Theatre.
