Utica, NY (WIBX) - Executive Anthony Picente announced that Oneida County's 2011 Summer Youth Employment Program will begin on Tuesday, July 5th.

Picente is teaming up with Congressman Hanna for the program's annual Work Readiness Day, which will take place at 9:30am in the IT Building at MVCC's Utica campus.

Around 300 youth are expenced to participate in the summer program, where they will work for local employers to gain work experience.

"In our community, and in our society, you have the ability to become whatever you want to be, as long as you are willing to work hard enough," Hanna said. "The youth who will be joining this program have a great opportunity to learn about working hard to achieve success."

The youth enrolled in the program will recieve a call from staff before they are invited to the event on July 5th.
