The SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany and Mohawk Valley EDGE are expanding their partnership to develop the Marcy Nanocenter site, with CSNE serving as the site end user.

The partnership is designed to accelerate the attraction of a computer chip manufacturing facility to the Mohawk Valley.

Mohawk Valley EDGE expects a new wetlands permit will be issued by the Army Corp of Engineers within the next few months so work can begin on developing and marketing the site on the SUNY IT campus.

Part of the development plan would include a total public and private investment of $10 to $15 billion for each phase of development.

A chip fab plant is expected to bring about 5,000 jobs to the area.
