Marcy, NY (WIBX) - SUNYIT is quickly making a name for itself, according to the U.S. News and World Report.

The college was, once again, selected as one of "America's Best Colleges." This year, SUNYIT was ranked 86th in the "Best Regional Universities- North" category, up from 98th last year.

Jennifer Ninh, Director of Admissions at SUNYIT, says being on the list is a huge honor.

"Parents and students use this so much- maybe more than they should," Ninh said. "But, because of that, you want to be there. You want to be acknowledged and it's just fantastic."

Still, she says there is no time to waste. This year's rankings can be used to rise again next year.

"We look back and we say, 'OK, now we're going to make it even better,'" Ninh said. "Let's move up our ranking. We set a goal for ourselves, internally, and then we see what programs we can really delve into to help do that and bring our students an even better education."

Rankings are compiled based on many factors such as faculty quality and student retention and acceptance rates.

Although SUNYIT was founded in 1966, the college was an all-transfer and graduate school. It wasn't until 2011, after it had graduated four consecutive classes of traditional undergrad students, that the school became eligible for the annual rankings.

Since then, SUNYIT has found itself on the list each year.
