A Syracuse man is facing numerous changes following a traffic stop in the area of Oneida Square.

Utica Police say during the stop, the driver of the vehicle put the car into gear and fled from the officer.

Police say 31-year old Earl Wright, exited the vehicle and surrendered when the car came to a stop at Bennett and Lamb Streets.

Wright was allegedly in possession of a loaded handgun and a quantity of heroin.

He's facing charges including criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The driver was issued several traffic summons'.
