SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse police are searching for a 17-year-old man they've identified as the main suspect in a recent killing.

Khani Johnson of Syracuse is approximately six feet tall and 145 pounds. He's wanted for the slaying of 39-year-old Jason Davis, who was killed in a shooting on the city's south side. Davis suffered a gunshot wound to his back on Dec. 14 and died a short time later at Upstate University Hospital.

Detectives conducted several interviews and examined evidence at the scene before identifying Johnson as the suspect. Police have been actively looking for him over the past month.

Police have issued warrants for Johnson's arrest on murder and attempted robbery charges. Police say he's possibly armed and should not be approached.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Syracuse Police at 315-442-5222.
