Long time Syracuse radio host Joe Galuski has died after a long battle with cancer, according to an announcement on WSYR on Thursday morning.

Galuski, who had been on leave for several weeks from WSYR, announced last fall that his absence was caused by a bout with non-Hodgkins lymphoma according to Syracuse.com.  The newspaper reported that the radio host beat cancer 22-years ago; but, he announced to his audience in 2014 that it had returned.

Galuski joined WSYR in 1988.
