There are six statewide propositions on which New York residents can vote.  One of the most controversial is Proposition One, the "casino gaming" proposition.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — A western New York police department can start shopping for patrol vehicles for the first time in five years now that casino gambling payments have been received from the Seneca Nation of Indians.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo will visit the three western New York cities with casinos to deliver gambling revenue funds that were withheld by the Seneca Nation of Indians during a four-year dispute with the state.

Governor Cuomo has signed the Upstate New York Gaming Economic Development Act, a new law that if approved will establish destination gaming resorts across the region.

The state Legislature will not get to ultimately chose where any new casinos in New York are built.
