OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Attorneys for an Oklahoma inmate who had been set to be put to death the same night as a botched execution are asking the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals to grant a stay for at least six months pending a review into what went wrong last week.

Convicted murderer Clayton Lockett was scheduled to be executed at 6:00 p.m. tonight (April 29). While authorities were administering the lethal injection they discovered the line into Lockett's arm had blown. Prison officials halted the execution and at 7:06 p.m. Lockett suffered a massive heart attack and passed away.
