Twenty-six police officers from across the state who made the ultimate sacrifice were honored today in Albany.

Hundreds of State Troopers and law enforcement officers from across the country lined Genesee Street in South Utica for the funeral of Trooper Donald Fredenburg of Utica.

Genesee Street from Ballantyne Brae and Proctor Boulevard and Barton Avenue between Genesee Street and Sunset Avenue will be closed to accommodate anticipated traffic for the funeral of Trooper Donald R. Fredenburg.

Funeral services for Trooper Donald R. Fredenburg will be held today at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Genesee Street in Utica.  Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul is expected to be in attendance.  Traffic advisories have been posted for the area near the church.

An autopsy performed on the body of State Trooper Donald Fredenburg shows he died of a previously undiagnosed heart condition.

The community is mourning the death of Trooper Donald R. Fredenburg, who died during his second week of basic training at the New York State Police Academy in Albany.

A 23-year old Utica man assigned to the New York State Police Academy for Basic School Training has died.
