DISCOVER ORANGE BOWL: #23 West Virginia (9-3) vs. #15 Clemson (10-3)

West Virginia closed the season on a three-game winning streak to win the Big East championship. While this may or may not be the Mountaineers’ final year in the Big East (depending on the outcome of two pending lawsuits), West Virginia is more than happy to represent the conference one last time in the Orange Bowl. Clemson, meanwhile, beat Virginia Tech twice this season, including 38-10 in the ACC title game, to clinch its first Atlantic Coast Conference championship since 1991 and first 10-win season since 1990.

The Southeastern Conference will take home its sixth consecutive national championship next month, as Louisiana State and Alabama will play a rematch in the BCS National Championship game. Despite a last-minute push by Oklahoma State in a 44-10 drubbing of then-#10 Oklahoma, Alabama edged out the Cowboys in the final BCS standings for the #2 spot and a shot at the national title. They will take on #1 LSU, which pounded #14 Georgia, 42-10, in the SEC title game to remain undefeated.

LSU defeated Alabama 9-6 in overtime in their regular season matchup on November 5th. While surveys show most people outside of Louisiana and Alabama do not want to see a rematch in the national championship game, the poll voters and computers gave the slight edge to the Crimson Tide, giving Alabama another shot.

In addition to the national title game, here is the schedule for all of this year’s bowl games.

As we enter the final week of college football’s regular season, we already have a good idea of what the national championship game will look like. Barring a colossal upset in the SEC title game and a whole lot of poll voters changing their minds and moving Oklahoma State up, LSU and Alabama will play a rematch of their earlier overtime game in the BCS National Championship. After the title game, however, there is still a lot of drama to play out with a variety of conference championships, BCS bids and bowl games on the line. Here are all the highlights from this week in the AP Top 25.
